28 New Pre-SIHH 2019 Watches From Audemars Piguet, Hermès, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Cartier, IWC, And More | Quill & Pad

In this age of advanced data, watch companies attempt to get ahead of the competition by releasing news on new timepieces ahead of the enormous watch fairs.

This year is the same, and out of appreciation for the upcoming 29th edition of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) , which opens its entryways on January 14, 2019, we present you with an overview of some of the new models that have been revealed already.

Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Minute Repeater Tourbillon Sky Chart

This one-of-a-sort Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers timepiece continues a line of recent offerings from this very conventional producer of unique pieces from the most demanding department in the factory. Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Minute Repeater Tourbillon Sky Chart

Aside from its complicated mechanical capabilities, the visual esthetics of this timepiece are powerful with a jet-black hand-guilloche dial, large tourbillon nestled within its Maltese cross-shaped carriage visible in the cutaway at 6 o’clock, and expansion of shimmering (however understated) baguette-cut diamonds.

Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Minute Repeater Tourbillon Sky Chart

This historical re-creation of a minor departure from the Star Wheel theme is a great method to showcase Parmigiani’s special image of craftsmanship, its help of and by the Sandoz Family establishment, and Michel Parmigiani and his team’s restoration experience put to use in modern haute horlogerie.

Parmigiani Toric Capitole

The new Toric Capitole is a unique piece featuring a minute repeater on Cathedral gongs and a sector time show made possible by a revolving planetary gear with three arms, each outfitted with a plate with four numerals that rotate to indicate the hour. The visible plate serving as the dial is made of 18-karat gold: inspired by the Michelangelo-designed Capitolium in Rome, its repeating pattern has been hand-engraved by Eddy Jacquet.

Roger Dubuis Excalibur Huracán Performante

Taking solid viewable cues from the shapes found on the supercar, this timepiece gives pride of place to the hexagon. The half hexagon appearing on the louvered air intakes of the Lamborghini Huracán Performante are repeated as miniature versions visible through the openworked dial of the Excalibur Huracán Performante, which is decked out in “Technical Titan Gray” livery with splendid yellow accents.

Piaget Three New Altiplano Models

Docking into 2018’s ultra-thin theme just as the Altiplano anniversary celebrated in 2017, Piaget continues to introduce new minor departure from its Altiplano in 2019 using a variety of reoccurring elements such as rare semiprecious stones and gem setting.

Piaget Altiplano High Jewellery

Using baguette-cut precious stones to frame the dial and as four hour markers (is this perhaps a new trend?), this High Jewelry model blends watchmaking and jewelry techniques to make a shimmering – and perhaps even unisex – beauty.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Perpetual Calendar

The Laureato previously appeared at Girard-Perregaux in 1975, and today the revamped classic continues to lose a multitude of varieties; it is the perpetual calendar’s chance at SIHH 2019.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Perpetual Calendar

Quite decently priced, this stainless steel timepiece powered by an automatic GP manufacture movement is a lively contrast to the classically designed quantième perpetuel of yesterday.

Quick Facts Girard-Perregaux Laureato Perpetual Calendar

Case: 42 x 11.84 mm, stainless steel

Movement: automatic Caliber GP01800-033, 4 Hz/28,800 vph frequency, 54 hours power reserve

Three New Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Models

The oval Cat’s Eye returned to SIHH 2018 out of several iterations outfitted with aventurine and jewels. This trend continues at Girard-Perregaux for the 2019 edition of the reasonable with three new minor departure from the same shining theme.

See more on the historical backdrop of aventurine and its use in the watch business today in Aventurine: Sparkling, Glittering, Mysterious, And Placing A Galaxy Of Stars On Your Wrist .

Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Majestic

This new large-size vertical-oval Cat’s Eye reveals just the hours and minutes, however its shimmering aventurine dial and jewel accents provide heaps of visual interest.

Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Majestic

Quick Facts Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Majestic

Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Celestial

This minor departure from a timepiece that was even shortlisted by the 2017 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in the Ladies’ High-Mech category offers a large moon phase complication that is driven directly from the barrel. The magnificent moon is made of mother-of-pearl.

Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Celestial

Quick Facts Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Celestial

Case: 35 x 30.4 mm, pink gold

Functions: hours, minutes; moon phase indication

Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Tourbillon

Here the smaller case’s oval is turned with the goal that it sits vertically on the wrist instead of the standard thing (for this line) even direction. Furthermore, that isn’t the lone interesting element aside from the visible one-minute tourbillon: the six precious stone “trails” representing meteorites leading from the tourbillon cutaway are an entertaining design choice.

Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Tourbillon

As is the “strip” placed over the tourbillon cutaway – which I personally think is altogether too much. In the event that the designers had left that off, this watch would be much more appealing. Be that as it may, taste is subjective, I guess.

Quick Facts Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Tourbillon

Case: 32 x 37 mm, white gold

Dial: aventurine

Gemstones: 54 baguette-cut precious stones (3.5 ct) on case; one jewel on crown (.2 ct); 36 baguette-cut precious stones (1.95 ct) on dial; 7 baguette-cut precious stones (.55 ct) on buckle; absolute 98 baguette-cut precious stones (6.2 ct)

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Camouflage

At Audemars Piguet’s last appearing at the SIHH – the brand will be leaving the reasonable after the 2019 edition – it announces three color varieties of its camouflage-styled Royal Oak Offshore chronographs.

Audemars Piguet Royal-Oak Offshore Chronograph Camouflage blue

This approach was first seen at the 2018 edition of the reasonable – however its design forward style wasn’t necessarily appreciated by classicists as you can read in SIHH 2018 Round Table: What We Liked, What We Didn’t Like, And What We Would Buy For Ourselves. Cautioning: Photo-Heavy Modem Burner!

However, I will guess that it sold well since further varieties are currently being introduced.
